Miss New York returns to Rochester to speak to students at area schools | News
Pittsford native and Miss New York 2011 Kaitlin Monte will be returning home for the first time after placing second runner up at the Miss America contest held last month.
Monte will be making stops at area schools to discuss her anti-bullying platform. Since being named Miss New York, Monte has taken on the issue of bullying and is working with State Senator Jeff Klein, of Bronx, to pass new legislation against cyber bullying. Monte is also Executive Director of Project Empower, a non-profit education initiative that she launched this fall to help students end bullying through life and career skill development.
Monte will be Allen Creek Elementary School in Pittsford on Tuesday. On Wednesday, she'll speak to students at Rochester STEM High School and York Central. On Thursday, she'll speak to students at Greenwood Middle School in Canisteo and then to students at East Rochester Middle School and Cosgrove Middle School in Spencerport on Friday.
