Brockport hangout takes down Penn State memorabilia

Brockport hangout takes down Penn State memorabilia

A local hangout for Penn State fans is expressing its views on the recent sex scandal at the university. The Stoneyard Bar and Grill in Brockport has taken down all its Penn State memorabilia.

The general manager told News 10 NBC he's still a Penn State fan, but out of respect for the victims involved in this tragedy, he and the restaurant owner thought it would be best to make some changes to the bar's decor.

By the looks of it now, you'd never know the Stoneyard Bar and Grill is a hangout for Penn State football fans.

“You can notice it kind of looks empty in here right now”, says Britton Kolb, the general manager.

He isn't talking about the seats. He's referring to the walls, “basically what we had here on this wall was a portrait of the Nittany Lion.”

Kolb and the owner decided to take the decorations down on Monday, “it was more out of respect for the victims and families.” And Kolb says the customers are noticing the changes.

Taste of Buffalo to feature Brockport restaurant

The Taste of Buffalo presented by Tops Markets, the country’s largest annual two-day food festival, is preparing for its 28th year of whetting the appetites and filling the stomachs of thousands of food-loving attendees. The event returns to downtown Buffalo along Delaware Avenue and Niagara Square on Saturday, July 9 and Sunday, July 10.

This year’s Taste features almost 60 restaurants, including Brockport’s 58 Main Smokin BBQ, and half a dozen wineries as well as a culinary stage, musical entertainment and plenty of special offerings from a host of national and local sponsors.

New this year, each restaurant is offering a taste-sized item of their signature dish for only $2 or 4 tickets. For $20 attendees can get a “taste” of 10 restaurants.

More than 200 food items, ranging from Asian to barbecue to Italian to sweet treats and everything in between, are available for sampling from 57 restaurants.
